Consider that in this case we should also convert .a to .lib on Windows, plus who knows what else combinations, some platforms may also support both kind of names. This can quickly lead to a mess. We already have -l which solves the problem perfectly, it's enough to use it ;) It's not obligatory to use portable command lines of course, someone may not need them, but IMO in the documentation it's good to show best practices or document such properties of alternative solutions) Brgds, Viktor
