I'm not agains the general idea and many thanks for your work on contrib tree. Just simply some modifications which makes the Windows users life easier for *nix users create additional problem. Please note that we should keep an easy way to chose all necessary/possible to build contrib libraries from one place or adding new port will be very hard. Sooner or later we will add some more or less limited support for autoconf. It will be nice if we can keep only one autoconf script instead of adding it to each contrib directory. I understand why you want to move the environment testing to each contrib library and in Windows it seems to be even resonable for me. But when I will want to make some new port in POSIX OS then I would like to have an easy way to update only single file instead of 20. That's all.
