I agree. I though about the name problem and I wanted to change to name of ZLIB wrapper in contrib but your proposition is IMHO much better. I also suggest to upload the modified ZLIB I've sent to you in two steps: 1-st upload unmodified ZLIB source code. 2-nd upload the modified version.
