Hi Chip,

I added the settings for all in the if statement so any setting will be
excluded. The line number is 803 and there should be no problems.
I may have to place in the package for the alert to shut down all apps, at
least have it shut down Cuckoo clock because it never gets recorded until it is
turned off then on again.

Is there a setting for that?

        Bruce

  Hi Chipp,

That was the most important thing about it, what it was saying. I can
still make sure that it only talks when it is at the set time, like yours, only
at the top of the hour.
Now, if the time is not correct, there is something in the system clock
going on when in sleep mode. But, does it say the time in which you open the
lid? If you open it at 8:12 in the morning and it actually says that time.

I will make the quick mod for I forgot that my Startrek program, Trek, is
a compiled .exe and the other error still happens, there I think the only
solution is to have the app deleted before upgrade.

I will post the fix this morning since I am ahead in my homework.

    Hi Bruce,

No, it does not say the correct time when the lid is opened, only because I
only have it set to say the time at the top of the hour and no where else.

I wouldn't worry about this one; it's not happening every time I open the
lid, and I can't tell you how to reproduce it. If I figure out how to make it
happen, then I'll bring it up again.

Thanks though for looking into it.

    Chip

    Hi Chip,

I want to make sure it is saying the correct time when the lid is up.
You say it does the top of the hour, the chime you hear would be the Chinese
Gong and sound, but is it saying the correct time? Not the top of the hour time
like 1 PM or 2 PM if it is not?

As I had mentioned in my last email I know it would trigger the top of
the hour on the quarter hour as I had set it to look at minute mod 15, which
means it thinks it is OK when 15 has a remainder of 0. For I had not checked
for each setting value, 0, 15, and 30.

So, when it sounds when the lid is open, does it say the correct time
and not the top of the hour? Unless it is the top of the hour.

      Bruce,

It just says the top of the hour time.

      Hi Chip,

That setting is the only place where it gets fired. The timer
function call is for that area and the only thing I can say is the time as the
lid opens is not the same.

But, when it makes the announcement of the time, does it say the
correct time or just the hour time? What I mean is the time it says is the
present time when it fires, and does it say that or the top of hour time?

Now, maybe it is firing after the reset, it should not, but maybe it
is, an issue maybe with the timer itself. In other words, when it gets set for
the next hour the milliseconds is off and sounding immediately upon being set.
I just can't imagine that, but the only possibility.

Let me know if it says the exact time in which the lid is opened. I will
check and make sure I only have one function call for the top of the hour;
unless an alarm or wakeup is going off, there not set to go off when the hour
one does. Now will investigate that and put the same flag there if that were
happening. The alarm should not go off if it is not set, do you have an alarm
setting set as well? Or a wake up setting?

        Bruce,

Yep; I checked the announce menu item you mentioned and it is not
checked.

The announcement doesn't always happen as it used to, so things are
much better; it's just a little strange, especially since it's male.

        Hi Chip,

The .ini is not included so no one looses there settings. I believe
that error is connected to the folder created for the record files and it also
happens with the Trek game.

I may have to delete that folder upon install but not sure if that
will fix it since the error or warning comes up before install.

Now, try deleting the record to wav folder and download the latest
version again. But, before doing that change the version level in the one you
have to an earlier number so it will know to update.

I may even have to include a check for update on the help menu so
it will delete the folder if an update is there.

But having said all that I may just compile the record program so
it does not require a folder, which I have not been able to do since the fire
at my house.

        Laptop lid problem:

Also, Chip did you look at the flag on the Clocks menu, the first
menu when using the alt key and cursoring down to the 5'th option, Announce
after hibernate/screen savor mode?

What is it's setting? Is it checked? For it should not be. When you
toggle it AI have it say on or off depending on the check state.

Sorry to say Bruce, but I have your latest version of the cuckoo
clock, and it's set for a female voice at the top of the hour and nothing else,
and yet when I open my laptop lid I immediately hear the male voice announcing
the last hourly time.

Also, when I installed this version, it told me that some of its
files will conflict with some files from the current version of the cuckoo
clock (I believe this usually happens when you include a file which has a time
stamp earlier than that of one of the files in the previous package; this can
easily happen if you include the .ini file).

          Hth,
