What is the rush?

Obviously something is happening that we have trouble getting to grips
with. I personally think there is a shift is happening that touches
our philosophy (and ego) at the deepest level. We also risk losing our
greatest contributors and core participants to the great project that
is Guix.

Half a year ago most experienced software developers I know were on
the fence about AI. But now you can see people no longer questioning
the value, working with it, and the discussion is more about not
burning out and AI debt. It *is* a paradigm shift of major
proportion. Our industry is changing. And this leads to questions
about copyright, public (free software) licenses, what is human and
more... In other words, our tree is being shaken and we don't have the
answers.

Rather than racing to a statement or position, I would like to ask
Guix to wait and see what other important free software projects do.

Sometimes it pays to not lead, but to wait. In fact, waiting has been
a defining trait of Guix.

For now, until we have a more clearly developed vision, in line with
other free software projects (many do accept AI patches), I think we
can agree and *ask* people not to use AI for patches to trunk.

I am creating a channel for AI work. For now, that is the sane route
untill we really know what to do :)
