Hi,

Well, I understand that we process the things when we have a slot of
time to do so. And this slot might be on Friday afternoon. :-)

For now, the propagation of package removals to third-party channels is
far to be polished. People are working on it but we are not ready yet.

These package removals sometimes break these third-party channels, and
it might be a cascade because one might depend on another broken one,
etc.

Because these third-party channels as guix-science are mostly maintained
on day-job hours, pushing to Guix package removals on Friday afternoon
leads to some third-party channels broken for the week-end. It’s
annoying…

Because it’s often “Friday afternoon rush” BTW, it becomes “Friday
afternoon double rush”. :-)

It already happened a couple of times.

Could we avoid to push package removal on Friday?

Somehow, Friday and Saturday are the two worst days for pushing package
removals. Could we avoid these two days? All the others are fine. :-)

For sure, right now is better than never. Just in case we could choose.

Cheers,
simon

PS: In France, next Tuesday is a day off, so some colleagues are also on
holiday on Monday (we call that “bridging“ ;-)), it means that these
third-party channels might be broken several days. But that’s another
story. ;-)
