Hi, Given the time some patches take to be merged, we can safely assume that some contributors only contribute occasionally, and a subset of them probably have a long term relationship with the Guix project.
I would also guess that some committers probably were in this situation before being committers. In my case I didn't read the mailing list that often (I often do that in batches), and so I found out quite recently about all that. Because of that, and given the amount of disruption of the GCD 002 if it passes (it will probably change the demographics of Guix contributors at least to some extent by making it unpractical for some people to contribute, while at the same time making it easier for other people to join) I think it would be a good idea to at least make a blog post about it and inform as many current or potential contributors as possible about the change proposal. Also, that could be out of scope here, but given the length of the threads, and the importance of the change, it could be a good idea (or not) to somehow summarize the various arguments not to have to repeat them and to enable more people to join in the discussion. I'm thinking of something like wikidebates ( https://en.wikidebates.org or https://fr.wikidebates.org ) where different positions are summarized. Since Guix has a wiki ( https://libreplanet.org/wiki/Group:Guix ) it could be possible to do that work there. Denis.
