Yes.  And groff_char(7) is a good resource to consult; or at least, so I
think.  I've tried to make it more obviously useful to people who are
there just for the "tell me what I need for ASCII keycaps, darn it!"
guidance.

Yes.  Doug McIlroy pointed out to me that GNU pic accepts not just "th",
but "st", "nd", and "rd" as ordinal suffixes.
