Ah, I understand you now. Yes. A "table continuation" (`.T&`) isn't treated in most (any?) respects like a separate table by tbl(1). For example, this input: .TS box; L. foo .T& L. bar .TE ...produces only four lines around the table region; it doesn't put a horizontal line between "foo" and "bar"--the `.T&` token does not start a "separate table". I'll have a look at the caveats regarding multi-page boxed or column-heading-requiring tables and see if they need to say "table region" instead of "table" in some places. Thanks for clarifying.
