I just got back from the meteor show (fantastic!) and am sending a status update before I head to bed.
As you may know, "fix problems day" last week did not go as smoothly as hoped. I made a few mistakes that took quite a bit of time to correct. Mail has been on hold for the past week. Fortunately, it looks like things are finally righted. The archives are currently getting themselves back on track and mail is once again being processed. If you still see broken links on index pages, wait and they will probably be automatically fixed. I think this will leave mail-archive in a pretty good position. The new MHonARc 2.5.1 message pages look great. We should have reasonable forward momentum against the message backlog when the repair process completes. The space freed up by YahooGroups (20% of the array) plus somewhat lowered disk consumption rate should keep mail-archive in good shape for a few months. With the termination of YahooGroups, I'm already feeling more upbeat; probably because I'm seeing a marked decrease in headaches from dealing with confused users. The platform front looks good as well; I'm pleased to see the upcoming confluence of Debian 3.0, 160 GB IDE drives, and perhaps even a stable linux 2.4 kernel. In other good news, I will probably be able to soon outsource backup MX to a professional firm (the same folks who handle my secondary DNS) which means my personal DSL line can get completely out of the failover loop (yay!). Also, mail will be much less likely to sit on the backup MX server for extended periods of time. All in all, things are looking up. Thanks for all the support during the challenging week. -Jeff _______________________________________________ Gossip mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://jab.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gossip
