I totally agree with you, we have to make this optional. I thought about various way of not forcing these translations. The most simple way would be to add a preference that toggles whether functions should be displayed translated or not. Note that it will always be possible to enter both the original english version of a function, and the translated variant. Another unrelated idea: It would be nice to have an online database that is used for all the function translations. This allows us to get traceable decisions and orient as much as possible towards XL-compliance. For now, dumping all the function definitions with possibilities to give feedback sounds like a very good start.
