From a strictly mechanical point of view, what David suggests will get the job done. (A similar option is exporting the report as HTML and then editing the HTML.)
But I don't understand how the OP can present a "balance sheet" that doesn't actually balance. That's the inevitable result of simply deleting the Retained Earnings line.
