Thank you John, I am surprised that I didn't accidentally actually click on
the icon. Anyway, I now see that it brings up two check boxes to hide
accounts having those attributes or not. The desired account has neither
attribute. It still won't save the base credit card account that I want to
use. This is a CSV from a credit card company that is surprisingly
detailed but it does not have multi-account splits. I did not accidentally
put the Account label on any of the columns. Now, however, something else
is still wrong because the next button is still greyed out. The account
name is still reluctant to be saved. After multiple tries and more arm
flailing I finally got the base account selected and saved it to the named
configuration, and I finally see that the next button is live. I still
don't know what changed to finally succeed in saving the account name with
the settings and whether I will have the same problem next time.

I went back to look at release 4.8 in Linux and the column header choices
were a little different but there I could immediately save the account name
with the settings while working with the same import file and nearly
identical data file.
