Thank you, Robert, for that information about 1099s. I am familiar with
the 1099-INT and 1099-DIV, and 1099-R, but the the usage that the question
is about.  Very helpful being on this list.

A question: If a contractor did three different jobs during the year, and
ALL of the invoices were under $1,000 (but together they sum to over
$1000), would a 1099 still need to be issued?

Oh, and I think there is an error in the comments about 1099-INT - I think
banks send them for interest over $9.99, not $999.99.
