Barry, When you are either sending a message or replying to a message in Gmail, there is a series of icons at the bottom next to the blue Send icon. The second one resembles a paper clip. To "attach" a file to your message click on the paper clip, then navigate to the folder containing the file that you want to attach and click on that file or those files. Note that if you hover over the paper clip icon it will say "Attach filles" That is the only way to make a file go all the way to the gnucash-user@gnucash.org maillist where others can see it.
