You have at least three options: 1) Install version 4.8a that ships with Ubuntu 22.04: sudo apt install gnucash
2) Use flatpack, this will get you a more recent version. See https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Flatpak 3) Build it yourself, and get 4.9 or the maintenance release (or other releases).
