No, the command line tools should be sufficient for building GnuCash too. I don't remember exactly when the just-issue-the-command trick started working, it may have been 10.8, and I've never tested it on anything but the current release. The command-line tools are available as a separate download from https://developer.apple.com/downloads <https://developer.apple.com/downloads> for most versions of MacOS so that's an alternative if saying "gcc" doesn't pop up the offer to install. I've updated the note on the wiki page to say that, and for good measure the "Prerequisites" at https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GTK%2B/OSX/Building <https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GTK+/OSX/Building> as well.
