I am pretty sure that the fundamental problem is that one of the other packages is not installing properly. I suspect that the library should be installed into /usr/lib (or a link to it should), that seems to be the normal route for libraries in Ubuntu. Since the packaged version of Gnucash suffers from the same problem I hope that whoever is responsible for that will get it sorted.
