I have also tried installing 2.2.6 on XP. I am able to read the 1.8 file, 
however, the balances are all way off. I'm not sure how long it will be before 
I have the Linux box back up so I can't say if reading the 1.8 file with 2.2.6 
on Linux is successful or not.
