I did a quick google search on "Access Control List ACL" (without the
quotes ;) and found the following useful URLs on the first two
response pages:
http://www.cs.arizona.edu/computer.help/policy/DIGITAL_unix/AA-Q0R2D-TET1_html/sec.c27.html
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/psdk/winbase/accctrl_1jj3.htm
http://www.dsps.net/ACL.html
http://www.msu.edu/user/cic/afs/aclmaster.htm
Note that each page above talks about different systems, and each uses
different terminology. However they all have the same underlying ACL
concept. Yes, even Micro$oft uses the same ACL technology ;)
You can also try to find references to POSIX 1003.6 which defines
"POSIX ACLs". But I don't know of any good sources online (a quick
search leads to a number of docs that reference POSIX, but not POSIX
itself).
Enjoy!
