You are doing nothing wrong. Multiple currency
support and EURO support is quite limited in
GnuCash. All I have done yet is to display
the total balances in EUR, but you can not
transfer directly between two accounts in
different (euro-)currencies. (This would require
to make the 'engine' euro-aware)
BTW: You should not be able to have child accounts
with different currencies than the parent account.
(At least I think this restriction was there in
previous revisions of GnuCash (Dave ?)).
