You can do this now:

1. Open checking register.
2. Switch to multi-line mode (or auto-single).
3. Add a new split transferring from Salary for 1000 as a deposit.
4. Add a second split transferring to Expenses:Tax for 150 as a payment.
5. Go back to single line mode. the transaction should have added $850
   to your checking account.
