Thanks for the help.  I was able to enter several transactions this
afternoon that I had held off because I needed to split.

I noticed, though, that if I'm working in single line mode (which I prefer
to do), start a transaction and then go to multi-line, the transaction goes
away.  I'd prefer it didn't do that, but I don't know if I'd call it a bug.
