Esc key actually help a lot here. On large screens, using a touch scree n interface is actually more work and far less intuitive than operating a keyboard. It takes far less time to press Esc than move my hand and swipe the curtain off a large screen (and and even less time than dragging the curtain off with a mouse). No one wants to wave their hands around a large screen.
