There's a lot of code that's shared between gnome-shell and gnome-control-center. gvc is one example, but there's also gnome-bluetooth. Given the rise of gnome-initial-setup, which is what I'm working on, we're considering having a libgd-like thing like libgnometweak that various tweaking things should use.
