I recently added this bug report: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347110 to intltool. After discussing this with Danilo at GUADEC, I finally saw an option for this problem to get fixed, at least with a workaround in intltool, since gtk+/libglade/glade seems to never get this fixed.
However, it seems I am fighting an uphill battle, to say the least, and as recently shown by the comment in the intltool bug report. Very few developers know about the issue, and it seems even fewer consider this to be a problem, and out of those that may actually understand why I think it is a problem, noone considers it prioritized. Even more, I have had to explain the reasons why I think it is a problem over and over for the last years, since it usually is people who are not familiar with how translators usually work, let alone know what a translation memory is or how it's used, that keep asking why it's a problem at all. Sadly, it is often the same people that have the best chance of actually fixing this, should they see the problem. Which, of course, they are not. So I guess my question is: Am I an insane, stubborn, person, that keeps fighting this battle, although in reality everyone knows it's not a problem? Am I a drooling maniac that should get put into a cage because I keep ranting for years about a problem that only affects translators, when we should be catering for the end user, and end world hunger, and all of those more important goals? Or put into clear text: Does anyone consider this to be a problem, or are you just happy the way it is?
