This is a compromise that would also work for Vietnamese, since we have a preponderance of dead-key-accented vowels. But how will we make sure the user knows which key to press?

Correction: there are several keyboard layouts/input methods for Vietnamese (e.g. Telex, VNI, VIQR, TCVN) which use either dead keys or combinations of keys, so "key combinations" would have been a more accurate general description than "dead keys".

Thanks to my team leader for the reminder. ;)

Regardless, a way to assign usable accelerators to accented vowels would be a huge help to us.
