I was referring to:

Importing emails from Thunderbird history in addition to Thunderbird
address book

I suppose you meant "email addresses?"

You said this indexes email messages? How does

that perform?

I probably wasn't clear about this - the plugin doesn't do that.
PopularityIndex is one of the fields in Thunderbird's address
book/history db, Thunderbird itself populates it. I'm not entirely
sure how the value is computed but heuristically it seems to be higher
for the more frequently used email addresses. The plugin just uses the
email address with the highest PopularityIndex as the default for a
given ContactItem.
