Hi Patrick, first, in fact, digital zoom is not as much needed feature as the webcam can provide the magnification directly by simply moving the device more closer to the text. second, I think that using Cheese together with Gnome magnifier together would be memory and CPU hungry and would take the most computing resources of common machines. If someone would find such feature useful, than it would be better to include "Digital zoom" feature in Cheese, where the program would simply cut the center area of each frame and then interpolate it to lets say double resolution for instance.
