## Which issue does this PR close? Backport of #6507. No issue was filed for the original change; it fixes a CI toolchain compatibility regression introduced by the Rust 1.99 stable release. ## Rationale for this change `branch-1.1` CI installs the latest stable Rust toolchain. Rust 1.99 made the legacy numeric module constants and `Atomic*::fetch_update` deprecated, so the `rust-test` job now fails under `-D warnings`. This currently blocks release-branch PRs, including #6511. ## What changes are included in this PR? This cherry-picks #6507 onto `branch-1.1`: - Stop importing the legacy `core::f64` module in the numeric conversion tests. - Allow the deprecated `fetch_update` calls in the memory pools until the workspace MSRV is new enough for `try_update`. The backport has the same stable patch ID as the source commit. ## How are these changes tested? The source PR passed its Rust 1.99 CI. For this backport, `git diff --check` passes and `git patch-id --stable` confirms that the patch is identical to #6507.
