The consensus here was not to add ST_* functions to Comet itself and to support geospatial through an extension instead, and the custom Rust UDF work in #4459 is the route for that. The five built-in ST_ functions that Spark 4.2 adds are ordinary expression work and can get their own issue if we want them.
