* I didn't find a hint that it would be a system wide setting. For instance, the _Find_ dialogue of the _BBEdit_ text editor, which also is a popup window, does not close on Option+L, but lets me insert the @. The same is true for the _Find_ dialogue of _Pages_ (the word processing software which comes with MacOS) * Interestingly, the MacOS "System Preferences" reacty on Option+L similarily (by closing the popup) I suspect that each application can decide a hot key for closing dialogues, but there is no system-wide settings.
