Hmmm, @DavParc are you displaying/editing a minimised HTML or similar thing that is large, long lines or one line, with wrapping on? And does the "freeze" happen when the window is covered by another window or minimised for a period?
@nyamatongwe no Geany does not set SCI_SETLAYOUTTHREADS so IIUC that means one thread. I guess it could be set if its guaranteed that Pango and any other GTK stack is multi-thread safe (I couldn't find "thread" in any pango docs).
