Context: PC with linux debian woody and the gimp 1.2.3. I've read carefully and carried out many examples of the manual "Grokking the Gimp", but.......
Control-clicking on the layer mask tumbnail I toggle on and off the effect of the layer mask on the layer image and the layer mask is alternatevely framed in red. But Alt-clicking on the same tumbnail I do not see any effect. I expect to see the thumbnail framed in green and the mask appear in the image but nothing of the kind is occurring and nothing is signalled by the Gimp. What should I do, check (or whatever verb you like)? Please, help!!
