Well, offscreen to me just means "non visible but still available", so it
didn't matter to me where the buffer actually is.

Sounds right, and it's what I had in mind: as said I'd have one single
"iconification" notify mechanism which both a windowed target and a full
screen target could use to notify the application that it's not visible
anymore.

Well, I'm one of the main AROS developers (http://www.aros.org/), so my
computing resources are devoted mainly to it. I'm also part of a couple
more projects... not much time left, considering that I gotta run my
normal life as well :) However if I happen to have some other spare time,
I can contribute someting.
