This is an FYI for the installation of Geoserver 2.16-RC into a UNIX environment

Last week I installed Geoserver 2.16-RC onto my development server.
The configuration is:
UNIX OS: Solaris 11
Tomcat 8.5.4
JVM 1.8.0_102-b14

The Geoserver data files are stored outside of Tomcat on the file system and I
am using the Oracle DB plugin
I had no issue with installing Geoserver, but when I installed the Oracle
plugin (the 2.16-RC version) and changed the data directory Geoserver would not
start.

I reverted to a fresh install and then added the oracle plugin and restarted
Geoserver. This happened with no problem. I then stopped Geoserver and altered
the data directory location in web.xml and restarted.

This time Geoserver was working as expected and all my layers were available.

My set up currently has about 85 layers with most of them being vector layers.
Several layers are WMTS that come from an ArcGIS web service.

I have had no issues with this new release since the installation.
