Those instructions remove the jetty favicon, but they don't set a new one. Now, in the GeoServer capabilities I don't see any favicon at all. Best regards. You should be able to stop Jetty from serving its own favicon with these changes to etc/jetty.xml: https://www.codesd.com/item/how-to-change-the-jetty-icon.html Once the Jetty favicon is disabled, the GeoServer favicon you have configured should work.
