Good to hear your ordeal is over. What I would be most interested in seeing is a diff between the config of the working 2.6.21 and the failing 2.6.22. If on the current system both kernels have been installed, both configs should be present in /etc/kernels/. And before the evil button scraps your partition table again, have you taken Dan's advice and filled up the button with epoxy glue, or chiseled it cleanly off?
