That implies that the error coming from the ebuild is a bug? Also try 'emerge portage' > itself and see if that fixes it. What do you mean with lockfiles? I've deleted /var/tmp/portage/wvstreams-4.2.2-r2/work/* There's no defunct emerge processes, or threads. There's no zombies of any sort too. I've also remerged portage-2.1.1 and tried again, but it fails with the same error.
