Well, technically, no. But considering that some python modules are implemented in C++ and link against libstdc++ (which is provided by gcc), pruning old versions of gcc without rebuilding python against the new version first risks breaking python, and thus portage, and thus "would be bad....very bad." ;-) -Richard -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
