I agree with the concept of netiquette but I also fear Microsoft has poisoned the well and taught many a newbie (myself included) bad habits.
Case in point ... I subscribed to a newsletter on one particular site. The mail server was accidentally turned into conversation mode one day. People started getting email after email and since no one who subscribed knew anything about listserv, they grew more and more frustrated as everyone replied to each and every email saying: "Why am I getting these emails?" "What is going on here?" "Please take me off this list" The emails grew exponentially. I think as long as each newbie is taught and then patiently reminded about netiquette there is nothing wrong. -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
