ZFS is one of the fastest FS I am aware of (if not the fastest).
You need a sufficient amount of RAM to make the ARC useful.

The only problem I am aware with ZFS is the fact that if you ask it to grant 
consistency for a specific file at a specific time, you force it to become slow.
