Your portage installation is seriously screwed if that is all the output you get. Don't try to guess which parts of the output are relevant, if you could do that you could probably work out the cause of the problem. Post the full output plus any other information that output tells you to (and it does). Remember, you are the one sat in front of your terminal, the rest of us only know what you told us, and so far your two mails have said. It doesn't work. It doesn't work because of an error.
