I ran into this once before and it turned out to be a DNS or hostname issue if I recall correctly. I can't for the life of me figure out why that would matter but it did. It's been a while so I can't remember what I did but I have ran into that on both my machines. It also makes the login on a Console take longer too. It makes a fast system act like a old Mac Classic.
