i've been running vmware 6.x with 2.6.31 before with no problems. if its that incompatible with newer kernels the dependencies should state that and 7.x should become stable. but it seems you're right: /var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/vmware-modules-1.0.0.25-r3/work/vmblock-only/linux/filesystem.c:84:4: error: unknown field ‘get_sb’ specified in initializer seems some stuff changed in the kernel https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/3/17/29 > VMware 7.x should work fine with kernel 2.6.39. i will give 7.x a try. thanks!
