I've got blackdown, sun jdk, a few other apps installed in /opt. I originally set my partition to 4g, but currently only use 495mb. So you should be fine with 500mb or slightly slimmer. Note it is often easier now to plan for future growth rather than working around partition resizing later on. As you've said you have 80g to use, you could quite easily allow for larger partitions now, consume like 40g of the 80g. Sure there will be wasted space, but you shouldn't have to worry about repartitioning for a long time (i.e. years). And, when the time comes, you'll still have 40g left for resizing when it becomes necessary. Dave -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
