You're certainly not the problem, but just a symptom. The fact that
everybody feels they either lack the power or shouldn't use their
power to do something about nonsense like this is a larger issue.
Either way the people complaining about the things that are wrong with
Gentoo are doing little to inspire people to bother fixing them.

If you said that a healthy Gentoo was good for your business half the
devs would be tempted to sabotage their own packages just to give you
headaches. Ditto for many of the others who complain that "Gentoo is
dying."

One of the downsides of adhering to the spirit of being community
based is that these kinds of battles never really get resolved until a
lot of people choose to walk away.

In the end, those who contribute tend to do so because they care about
the people will benefit from those contributions (including, but not
limited to, themselves). As a result, a single complaint is probably
worth 100 thank-you's as far as the impact to the overall project
goes. It is unfortunate for everybody, because in a perfect world
those who complain should be able to voice their concerns, and those
who contribute should be able to feel good about their contributions
regardless of the complaints. In the world we actually live in, peace
often seems to be found only through avoidance.
