Sure, it is opt-in always.  Done.  :)

And like any other decision in Gentoo, it can always be changed at a
later date when circumstances change.  There really are no "promises."
 However, I'm sure that such a thing would only change after careful
deliberation and only if it makes a lot of sense.  Just look at how
long it took to stabilize OpenRC, or preserve-libs.

I'm not really sure what people are looking for here.  The word of a
developer who might not be around forever, or a council that might not
be around forever?  I'd like to think that our past experiences
haven't been so bad as to justify a great level of concern.  If
somebody wanted to foist this feature prematurely on the masses I'd be
the first to object...
