my proposals: xft: Build with support for XFT font renderer (x11-libs/libXft) icu: Enable ICU (Internationalization Components for Unicode) support, using dev-libs/icu And the special case, which probably needs some discussion is the gsm flag. 7 out of 9 packages use it as a dep of media-sound/gsm, the other two depend on sys-apps/pcsc-lite ("Add support for EAP-SIM authentication algorithm"). The question is, whether we should create the global useflag for the seven packages and leave the pcsc-lite packages as they are (as we "allow" overriding since we have local useflag descriptions in metadata.xml), or preferably rename the useflag for the two pcsc-lite packages. The global description for the media-sound/gsm packages would be "Enables support for the gsm lossy speech compression codec via media-sound/gsm". Markus
