Note that you need to be an Incubator PMC member to be an "official" mentor - if Apache members or Incubator PMC members who know you think you should become one, they are welcome to discuss that on the private@incubator.a.o list. Apache Foundation Members can join that PMC just by asking, but others need to be elected.
